Snow White teaser: Rachel Zegler sings with the dwarves while Gal Gadot asks the big question, ‘Who’s the fairest of all?’

After almost 100 years, Snow White is returning to the big screens. At the ongoing D23 convention on Saturday, Disney unveiled the first teaser of its 2025 tent pole Snow White, the live-action adaptation of its 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film stars Rachel Zegler in the titular role, while Gal Gadot steps in to play the Evil Queen.

Directed by Marc Webb (500: Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man), Disney’s Snow White remake appears to follow the same beats of the iconic fable, as it introduces the viewers to Rachel Zegler’s titular character, who finds herself in a dangerous forest. Rescued by the seven dwarves, Snow White is then seen singing and dancing to “So… Whistle While You Work”.

The teaser then switches tones as it shifts its gaze towards the Evil Queen. Gadot is seen wearing her crown, as he asks in her authoritative voice, “Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?” The teaser cuts to quick visuals of the film’s magical world, and ends with a shot of the famous poisoned apple.

Based on the Brothers Grimm tale, the new Snow White film is written by Greta Gerwig (Barbie) and Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train). Snow White is set to release on March 21, next year.

Before Snow White, Disney will release Mufasa: The Lion King, which is set to hit the big screens this December. Snow White hasn’t been without its controversies. The casting of Rachel Zegler, who is of Latin decent, had angered a section of fans who said that she has been miscast the iconic role.

Disney’s past live-action blockbuster remakes include Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast and Aaddin among others.
