Renfield trailer: Nicholas Hoult wants to break free from Nicolas Cage’s bad boss Dracula. Watch
The film revolves around Dracula’s henchman R M Renfield, who was a prominent figure in author Bram Stoker’s cult classic 1897 novel.

Even draculas want to break free and enjoy… life. The final trailer of Universal Pictures’ monster comedy Renfield, featuring actors Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult, is out, and it promises to be a fun spin on the world of draculas.
The darkest night is often followed by the dawn. Similarly, in Emmy winner Chris McKay’s upcoming directorial, Hoult’s Renfield will have to fight his biggest fight to step into light as characters from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula come alive on screen for what seems like a wild, funny ride.
The over two minute long clip promises thrills for fans of the character Dracula. The blood sucking monster is played by Oscar winner Nicholas Cage, and the trailer depicts arresting chemistry between Cage and Hoult. Renfield, Dracula’s loyal but tortured aide, after centuries of servitude, is ready to see if there’s life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. “If only he can figure out how to end his codependency,” the trailer note read.
The screenplay by Ghosted series writer Ryan Ridley is based on an idea by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman. The film also stars Golden Globe winner Awkwafina, Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam, House of Sand and Fog), Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez and Brandon Scott Jones.
In the book, Renfield was a patient in an asylum with an obsession for drinking blood, deluded into thinking he would find immortality. He bows at the feet of the vampire king, who feeds him insects and rats and dangles everlasting life in front of him.
The film, co-produced by McKay, is set to arrive in theatres on April 14.
