It was not the first time that the 40-year-old actor turned host. He has previously hosted Tony Awards in 2009,2011,2012,and 2013 but he could not work his magic well on the Emmy audience this time with many celebrities criticising the awkward comedic timing of the show on Twitter.

“Ummmm… Emmys, when will we dispense with the dance montages? No one likes them,y’all. We’d rather hear from the ppl we’re honoring (sic),” actress Martha Plimpton tweeted.

“Is it just me or is this show really really really weird?” radio host Billy Bush contributed.

Taking a dig, comedian Michael Ian Black tweeted,”Next year, spice up the Emmys a little by not having them.”
