Freida Pinto out of Planet of the Apes sequel

The actress played a primatologist,Caroline Aranha,in the 2011 film.

Slumdog Millionaire star Frieda Pinto announced that she and her co-star James France will not return to reprise their roles in the sequel of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The 28-year-old actress,who played a primatologist,Caroline Aranha,in the 2011 film will not be part of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,reported Digitalspy.

It has been reported that the producers are moving ahead with a whole new cast.

“The sequel’s on,but we’re not in it. It’s a whole new cast. It would have been great to (do the sequel),but I don’t know how they would bring our characters back in. But we’ll do something else,” Pinto said.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves and will star Jason Clarke,Gary Oldman,Keri Russell,Kodi Smit-McPhee and Judy Greer,while Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Caesar the chimp.

The film is due to hit theatres in May 2014.
