Drashti Dhami,Geet,of 'Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi',gets explored in a short chat with IndianExpress.com.

Endeavouring to cater to a large audience base of women,Star One announced the launch of a fresh array of content including two new fiction shows,Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi and Rang Badalti Odhani. Both the shows are small town based,non-traditional and inspiring stories of young women,who have the ability to script their own destinies by defying conventions.

The channel claims to have carried out in-depth research before bringing out the new line-up of shows. According to the channel,the research revealed startling information on changing viewership trends along with a new set of audiences with a certain entertainment need.

“With the aim of expanding our viewership,we are presenting a new line-up of content which endeavours to break the clutter. The new shows have emotionally elevating storylines that challenge convention and existing stereotypes,” says,Nikhil Mirchandani,GM,Star One.

“Both the launches showcase strong characters and issues not seen on other channels. With this great combination of programs catering to the young women,we look forward to making inroads in the programming content arena in the present times,” Mirchandani added.

Can you point out some similarities between Drashti and Geet?

(Smiles)Yes both (Drashti and Geet) are girls and we stand for our rights. Apart from this,character-wise,we both are very different. Geet is a very calm sort of a girl while I am a very loud and a talkative girl.

What message,if any,does the show convey?

It is giving out a message saying,that sometimes your decisions probably are not supported by your family,but,if you think you are going in a right direction go ahead with it (the personal decision).

What is one special feeling about working with this show,so far?

Biggest satisfaction about this show for me is the fact that I am performing the lead role and my audience will get something nice to watch.

There is a stiff competition in the GEC segment. Does it scare you about prospects of your show?

Of course,somewhere down the line,you do feel the competition. But,I am not scared,just a bit nervous.
