Madhavan wants a break from movies

The actor is planning a break from his busy schedule, for at least 6-7 months,to spend time with his son.

Actor R Madhavan, who is currently on a cruise shooting for a Tamil film with Kamal Haasan and Trisha,is now planning to take a break from his busy schedule to spend time with his son.

The 40-year-old actor, who scored big with Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots and went on to star opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Teen Patti, will be able to end the shoot on the cruise only by the end of July.

“I guess I need to take a break for myself. I should step back and think about how I should be planning my future vacations. I am quite sure that once I return from this cruise and finish remainder of this film,I am not going to shoot for at least 6-7 months,” said Madhavan.

The romantic musical, which is being directed by KS Ravi Kumar of Dashavataram fame, requires its major part to be shot on the cruise.

In the business for close to 15 years now,Madhavan regrets that he doesn’t get to stay at home much and the actor wants to be with his son when he turns five this August. “My son is growing up faster than I would have imagined. A few weeks back when I met him after an extensive shooting schedule that kept me out,he really surprised me with his antics. I guess there is so much that I have missed in his growing up years.”

In the meanwhile, there are films which are waiting to kick start though. While there are Tamil assignments down South,up North there is an untitled film with T-Series as the producers which is on the anvil. Starring Sunny Deol and Kangna as the other lead actors, this film would be directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao of Lucky – No Time For Love (Salman Khan,Sneha Ullal) fame.

“This is the only new film which I have signed recently though it is still to go on floors. Let’s see how the shooting schedule turns out to be,” said Madhavan, who has also signed Freedom with Sanjay Dutt.

What’s happening to the film which would be directed by Vivek Agnihotri (Dhan Dhan Dhan Goal,Chocolate)? “Well,it is a period film and Vivek is taking time to put it all together. It is good though because ‘Freedom’ is a really big project. For us actors,it requires transformation from being a youngster to someone who is a 60 years old man.

The kind of pre-production which the film requires is maddening,” he said.

In a way,the time spent here also means that Madhavan can afford to have some spare time in hand to indulge with his family. Also,he could now sit back and reflect on the success called 3 Idiots, something which continues to stay in news even six months after the release. But the actor says he does not get affected by his successes.

“I am not affected much by the success of my films, even if they are really huge. I have had numerous successes down South. Also,in Bollywood I have had successful films like Rang De Basanti and Guru. These films did well. This is why it has not at all been a matter of coming back to normalcy. I have always felt pretty normal.”
