Kate Winslet debuts on small screen

The actress is playing the role of a divorcee mother struggling to make ends meet in 'Mildred Pierce'.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet’s small screen debut as a divorcee mother struggling to make ends meet has wowed the critics.

The 35-year-old actress who plays the title role in the new HBO mini-series ‘Mildred Pierce,’ has impressed her critics with her convincing performance,reported Hollywood Today online.

A remake of the 1941 James M Cain film starring Joan Crawford,Winslet plays Pierce,a mother raising her two daughters against the backdrop of 1930s Depression.

A section of the critics who attended the screening in Los Angeles praised her performance with the New York Times calling her “an amazing actress,capable of showing every nuance of feeling”.

The series also stars actress Evan Rachel Wood who plays the role of Winslet’s teenage daughter Veda.
