Hollywood film India’s top box office hit

Jennifer Aniston starrer 'The Bounty Hunter' has become the highest grossing comedy at the Indian box office.

It had been declared a flop internationally,but Jennifer Aniston starrer ‘The Bounty Hunter’ has become the highest grossing comedy at the Indian box office raking in nearly a crore in its opening weekend,according to distributors Sony Pictures.

The romantic comedy starring Aniston and Gerard Butler grossed Rs 98 lakhs off 52 prints,despite competition from the IPL cricket tournament’s final phase.

“The film benefited from the great chemistry between the lead actors,the unusual plotline,and the extraordinary buzz around the film,” said Kercy Daruwala,Managing Director,Sony Pictures,India in a press statement.

“We are really proud of its amazing success,especially as it released during IPL cricket fever. Monday collections continued to be very strong,” Daruwala said.

Gerard Butler who plays an ex-cop in the film chases fugitives for reward money and this time his new assignment is to bring in his ex-wife to jail for jumping bail in a minor crime.

‘The Bounty Hunter’ is directed by Andy Tennant and produced by Neal H. Moritz. The film released here on April 23,a month after it was released in US and UK.
