Divya Dutta: The Role i’d die for

It would be Sharmila Tagore’s roles in Gulzar’s award-winning film,Mausam. Based loosely on the novel The Judas Tree by AJ Cronin,this is one of my favourite films and it would be a dream for me to work with Gulzar saab someday. The way Sharmila portrays her characters — as the simple,innocent village girl Champa and as the raw,uncouth prostitute Kajli is stunning and brilliant. Equally impressive and moving is Sanjeev Kumar’s dealing with both women. Champa and Kajli

are well fleshed out,layered and

complex characters.
