‘Avatar’ shines at 3D awards show

‘Avatar’ has won a number of trophies at the inaugural Lumiere Awards.

Canadian film director James Cameron’s sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ has won a number of trophies at the inaugural Lumiere Awards.

The movie was awarded for best Live-Action 3D Feature,best 3D character (Neytiri,played by Zoe Saldana) and achievement for marketing 3D content,among others,at the 3D Society’s first annual ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on February 23,reports the Daily Express.

The prizes were accepted by ‘Avatar’ star Giovanni Ribisi on behalf of the filmmakers.

Pixar’s family favourite ‘Up’ was named the Best 3D Feature,while Imax’s Under the Sea 3D was selected as the best documentary.

Brendan Fraser was also honoured with the 3D Talent award for performing in and producing ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’.
