Sridevi was an actor par excellence who delivered several hits in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. She could have also been a big name in the West had she not rejected an offer from renowned filmmaker Steven Speilberg back in the 1990s.

In one of her interviews, during the promotion of her last on-screen appearance Mom, Sridevi revealed she was offered a role in the 1993 film Jurassic Park but she refused to do it. When her Mom co-actor Akshaye Khanna asked her why did she do that during their interview with Bollywood Hungama, she responded, “Those days, doing Hollywood films was alien, now it’s like a pride.”

Upon its release, Jurassic Park was hailed as a critical as well as a commercial success. It earned over 900 million dollars at the worldwide box office. The film revolved around a billionaire philanthropist and his team of hired scientists who create a wildlife park of extinct dinosaurs. But, things go awry and a bunch of scientists and kids get stuck on the island with the dinosaurs wreaking havoc.

Not just Jurassic Park, Sridevi had also rejected other significant roles at the peak of her career, one of which was Darr. Speaking about the same to the media, Sridevi had once said, “After Chandni and Lamhe, I feel Darr would have been an ordinary character for me. If I’m playing Shah Rukh Khan’s role, then of course, I would have loved to do it. The character Juhi played was new for her and so it was good for her. But for me, it was something I had done many times before.”

Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018. The actor’s sudden death left her fans, friends and family members shocked.
