Before becoming Bollywood’s Baadshah and earning much love and admiration for his candid nature, Shah Rukh Khan was once labelled as arrogant during the early years of his career. The actor’s insistence on receiving a script and dialogues before signing a project irritated many directors of the ’90s, who were accustomed to casting actors based solely on a storyline. In an old interview, Shah Rukh explained his work process and addressed the label of arrogance.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, Shah Rukh once said, “Agar insaan mein self-respect ko arrogance bolte hai, toh main hoon 100 per cent arrogant (If you call self-respect in a human being arrogance, then I am 100 per cent arrogant).”
He further elaborated, “Now that I’m a hit actor, people say I’ve reached this position because of my attention to detail. But earlier, when I wasn’t famous and I followed the same practice of asking for scripts, they used to say, ‘What does he think of himself?’ So, it depends on where you are in life.”
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is set to star alongside his daughter Suhana Khan in Sujoy Ghosh’s The King. The project is expected to go on floors in January 2025.
