Vivek Agnihotri hits back at Naseeruddin Shah for his comment on The Kashmir Files’ popularity: ‘Maybe he loves terrorists’
Vivek Agnihotri's statement comes after Naseeruddin Shah spoke about the success of Gadar 2, The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story.

Naseeruddin Shah invited the ire of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri after he said in a recent interview that the popularity of Gadar 2, The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files is ‘disturbing’. Agnihotri, who is busy promoting his upcoming film The Vaccine War, reacted to Shah’s comment and wondered if the veteran actor “loves terrorists” as he has acted in films that “support genocide”.
In a recent interview with Zoom, Agnihotri said Shah might be ‘disturbed’ by the success of The Kashmir Files because he feels he has been “exposed along with the truth” of the film. He said, “People generally don’t like being naked in front of people through somebody else’s art.”
Further, Agnihotri claimed that Shah is ‘happy’ doing films which “support genocide” and does so “because of his religion or because of his frustration”. The filmmaker also claimed, “For whatever reasons, perhaps he likes to support terrorists. I don’t even care what Naseer says because I have zero tolerance for terrorism, maybe he loves them.”
Not only this, in another interview, Vivek Agnihotri once again questioned Naseeruddin Shah’s choice of films as he said, “He likes those kinds of films that are always criticizing India.” Speaking to Bollywood Life, the director added, “Some people are frustrated in life. They always believe in negative news and negative things, so I don’t know what Naseer bhai likes.” He also said that whatever Naseeruddin says is maybe because of his “old age” or because he is “frustrated” in life.
What Naseeruddin Shah said about The Kashmir Files
Naseeruddin Shah, who has worked with Vivek Agnihotri in his film The Tashkent Files, spoke about the success of Gadar 2, The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files with Free Press Journal. He said, “Films like Kerala Story and Gadar 2, I haven’t seen them but I know what they are about. It’s disturbing that films like Kashmir Files are so massively popular whereas movies made by Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, and Hansal Mehta, who are trying to portray the truth of their times don’t get seen.”
Meanwhile, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War will hit theatres on September 28. The film stars Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar and Pallavi Joshi among others.
