Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has officially confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will be making a 'indirect cameo' appearance in his upcoming film Khufiya. In a recent interview, Bhardwaj also hinted at the possibility of a full-fledged collaboration with SRK in the near future. Speaking to News18, Vishal said, "At one point, we came very close to doing a film. It was announced also and we were going to shoot but somehow it didn’t happen." He added, "Whenever we meet, humesha yeh rehta hai ke kab hona hai. Ab wo waqt aa raha hai. Cameo toh ho hi gaya hai indirect toh film bhi iss baar honi chahiye. Andar se mujhe bhi feeling aa rahi hai. Shah Rukh ne bhi mujhe bola hai ke iss baar mujhe kuch lag raha hai ke hum log kuch kar payenge saath mein (We always want to answer 'when is it happening'. Now the time has come, he has already made an indirect cameo so now the film remains. I have a feeling, and even Shah Rukh Khan has told me he has a similar feeling - we will be able to do something together this time)." According to reports, Vishal Bhardwaj was previously associated with an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel 2 States, which was expected to star Shah Rukh Khan and Asin Thottumkal. However, the project eventually went to director Abhishek Varman, with Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles. As Vishal awaits the release of Khufiya, he is actively engaged in promoting his recently released web series, Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of the Solang Valley, available on SonyLIV. The show features an exceptional cast, including Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta, Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah, Gulshan Grover, Paoli Dam, Vivaan Shah, and Imaad Shah. Khufiya, on the other hand, is a spy thriller film penned, produced, and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Based on Amar Bhushan's espionage novel Escape to Nowhere, the movie stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi and is scheduled for release on Netflix on October 5.
