Vijay Sethupathi couldn’t approach school crush who ‘loved’ Shah Rukh Khan; SRK says, ‘You can have your revenge but not my girls’
At Jawan's pre-release event in Chennai, Vijay Sethupathi revealed that he couldn't approach his school crush due to her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan. SRK responded to Vijay with his trademark wit.

Ahead of Jawan’s release on September 7, Shah Rukh Khan commenced promotions with an extravagant pre-release event held at Chennai’s Sri Sairam Engineering College. During this event, the director of Jawan, Atlee, and SRK’s co-star Vijay Sethupathi conveyed their admiration for King Khan, and shared interesting personal anecdotes associated with him.
Vijay Sethupathi, who portrays the antagonist in Jawan, humorously recounted an incident from his school days. He recalled being unable to approach a girl he had a crush on because she was infatuated with SRK. He said, “When I was in school, I was in love with a girl. But she didn’t know. Every Jaanu has a Ram after all (reference to his 2018 film ’96). But that girl was in love with SRK. It has taken these many years to have my revenge.”
Shah Rukh responded to Vijay with his trademark wit, and said, “Everyone here spoke in Tamil and I am sure they all spoke good things about me. Except for Vijay Sethupathi, who was talking about a girl. Let me tell you one thing sir, you can have your revenge but not my girls. They are mine.”
During the event, Atlee also shared a memorable story about SRK. He recounted how 13 years ago, he took a photograph outside SRK’s Mumbai residence Mannat. Years later, fate had it that the gates of Mannat opened for him as he approached King Khan for Jawan. Atlee said, “I will tell you a story. When I was working with director Shankar for Enthiran in Mumbai. I was told by my friend that we are shooting outside SRK’s house. He asked me to pose in front of the gate for a pic. After 13 years, the same gate opened and King Khan himself went, ‘Welcome, Atlee sir’.”
Apart from SRK, Jawan features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The movie is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.
