Varun Dhawan denies allegations that he behaved inappropriately with Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani: ‘It was all in good fun, not flirting’
Varun Dhawan opened up about healthy flirting, and said that he never crossed the line with his female co-stars Kiara Advani and Alia Bhatt, despite what some people on the internet felt.

Actor Varun Dhawan responded to allegations that he crosses the line with his female co-stars, such as Kiara Advani and Alia Bhatt. Videos of the actor, seemingly planting an impromptu kiss on Kiara’s cheek during a photoshoot, and touching Alia’s belly during a live event, were widely shared online. A section of the public felt that Varun had behaved inappropriately with the women. In an interview, he said that it was all harmless fun, and that the kiss was pre-planned.
Appearing on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Varun was asked if he enjoys being naughty with his female co-stars, and he said, “Chhedam-chhaadi, if it is done in a happy space, a good space, whether it is a man or a woman… I have fun with my male co-stars as well, but nobody mentions that.”
Asked specifically about the Kiara incident, he said, “I’m glad you asked me this. It was planned. Both Kiara and I posted that clip. It was for a digital cover, and they wanted some movement and action, so we planned that.” When it was pointed out that Kiara looked taken aback by the kiss, as if it wasn’t discussed in advance, he said, “She’s a good actress. It was completely planned. I’ll admit when things weren’t planned.”

He admitted that when he playfully tried to push Kiara into a pool wasn’t planned. During an event for their film JugJugg Jeeyo, Varun grabbed Kiara by the waist, and almost shoved her into a nearby pool. Kiara could be heard saying, “Stop it, ya.” Reacting to the incident, Varun said in the interview, “That I did on purpose. It was all in good fun. It wasn’t planned. That’s just my nature, I guess.”
A third incident, where Varun touched Alia’s belly, was also unplanned. He said, “I did it in fun. It wasn’t flirting. We’re friends.” Varun and Alia made their acting debut together in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. They also starred together in films such as Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, and Kalank. Varun will next be seen in the film Baby John, due out on Christmas Day.
