Veteran actor Nana Patekar is set to make his return to the big screen in Vanvaas, directed by Anil Sharma, the filmmaker behind the blockbuster Gadar series. Anil has also produced and co-written Vanvaas, which stars Utkarsh Sharma in a prominent role alongside Patekar. The makers recently unveiled the film’s trailer.
In Vanvaas, Patekar portrays an abandoned father navigating the challenges of old age. The trailer opens with his character visiting Varanasi with his family and a group of children. However, the trip takes a dramatic turn as he finds himself abandoned and alone. Struggling with memory-related issues, Patekar’s character clings to hope that his children will return.
Utkarsh Sharma plays Veeru, a small-time thief and con artist who steps in to assist the stranded father. Despite Veeru’s attempts to convince Patekar’s character that his children have deliberately left him behind, the father refuses to accept the bitter truth. Veeru then promises to reunite him with his children. In a contrasting sequence, the trailer reveals Patekar’s children scheming to take over his property by preparing his fraudulent death certificate.
Sharing the trailer on social media, Nana Patekar described Vanvaas as “a tale of love, regret, and redemption,” promising an emotional journey that will deeply resonate with viewers.
Last year, Anil Sharma delivered the blockbuster hit Gadar 2. His previous works include Apne and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Meanwhile, Nana Patekar was last seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War, which underperformed at the box office.
Vanvaas features music composed by Mithoon. The supporting cast includes notable names such as Rajpal Yadav, Simrat Kaur, Khushbu Sunder, and Ashwini Kalsekar. The film is set to release in theatres on December 20.
