Veteran actor Zarina Wahab, who is known for her work in Hindi and Malayalam films, has opened up about how she has no problem with playing a mother in the movies. The actor said that she considers herself lucky as she still gets good roles in films.

In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Zarina said, “I am happy working. If there’s a difference in mother’s role, they offer me and it’s nice, feels good. After a certain age, you are still getting films and nice roles, so I am lucky.”

A few days ago, actors Asha Parekh and Tanuja expressed displeasure over people not writing roles for them. During a session of Maitri: Female First Collective, Asha said, “Today, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, at this age also, people are writing roles for him. Why aren’t people writing roles for us? We also should be getting some roles which are important to the film. That’s not there. Either we are playing mother, grandmother or we are playing the sister. Who’s interested?”  Tanuja also agreed with Asha and said that she is not interested in playing the role of a mother in movies.

Asha Parekh also spoke about the age gap between heroes and heroines, which still exists in the industry. She said, “For women in those days, it was like if they got married, their career was finished. Now it is not so.” But she did point out that heroes of an older age are still romancing women in their 20s on screen. She said, “So the heroes maybe 50 or 55 years, they are working with 20-year-olds and that is acceptable till today.”
