Though Yash Raj Films' decision to release Maneesh Sharma's Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Tiger 3 on a Sunday raised many eyebrows, YRF clarified their belief in Salman Khan's stardom, emphasising their focus on the film's lifetime business rather than opening day numbers. Despite Laxmi Puja/Diwali being traditionally considered the weakest day to release a film, Tiger 3 hit the screens on the occasion, a Sunday. Surprisingly, the film witnessed a massive opening, raking in Rs 94 crore worldwide on its first day, with Rs 52.50 crore Gross Box Office Collection (GBOC) in the domestic market alone. After improving the figure further and minting Rs 59.25 crore India nett on the second day of its release on Monday, Tiger 3's box office figures witnessed a significant dip on Tuesday. Early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk shared at 9:15 pm on Tuesday suggest that Tiger 3's Day 3 box office collection is expected to be around Rs 37.75 crore. The film has recorded only 30.93 per cent Hindi occupancy so far. The fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, Tiger 3 is a sequel to Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). The film also stars Emraan Hashmi, Revathi, Simran and Riddhi Dogra in key roles. The movie also showcased both Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan reprising their roles of spy agents Pathaan and Kabir from their movies in the Spy Universe. In her review of the film, The Indian Express' Shubhra Gupta wrote: "Salman Khan is looking his age, but the good thing is that he isn’t hiding it. And of course, the best part of the film is when Pathaan aka Shah Rukh Khan comes flying into the horizon with his hair still in that sexy man-bun."
