YRF explains why they are releasing Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 on the ‘weakest day’, say they believe in Bhai’s stardom
Yash Raj Films has revealed the reason behind releasing Salman Khan's Tiger 3 on the Diwali day, which is usually the 'weakest day' for a film release.
Salman Khan's last outright hit was 2017's Tiger Zinda Hai.
The much-anticipated Tiger 3, the latest installment in Aditya Chopra’s YRF Spy Universe, has been generating buzz ever since the film was announced. Starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, the film will release in theatres on November 12. What’s interesting is that it’s breaking the norm by releasing on a Sunday, unlike the usual Friday releases for Bollywood movies. November 12 also marks Laxmi Puja/Diwali, which usually does not get much footfall.
The VP of Distribution for Yash Raj Films, Rohan Malhotra has opened up the reason behind this strategy and said that it is similar to the release strategy of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan which came out on a Wednesday, a day before Republic Day. He added that more than the numbers of the opening day, they are focusing on the lifetime collection of the film.
