The trailer of Kajol‘s much-talked about digital debut The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha dropped on Monday. The show has the Bollywood actor play a lawyer caught between a rock and a hard place as she’s asked to represent her husband, who gets involved in a sex and corruption scandal.

Directed by Suparn Varma, the show also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chadha, Alyy Khan, Kubra Sait and Gaurav Pandey among others. It has been co-produced by Ajay Devgn Films. At the trailer launch event, Devgn lend support to the team.

Talking about his association with Disney Plus Hotstar, Devgn shared that he has had a long relationship with the platform, and Gaurav Banerjee (Head, Content). Talking about working with Kajol and the ‘mad team’, Ajay Devgn said that it was very comfortable as they “knew what work ethics are”. However, the host pressed him to answer about the ‘actor trouble’ he faced with his wife headlining the show.

“Actor troubles are only at home. Otherwise, it is a fabulous cast, fabulous actors, so it was lovely,” he smiled to share, as Kajol quipped that there were no troubles anywhere.

At the same event, Kajol also spoke about what got her to venture into the digital space. “The answer is very simple, I have always thought that whenever I work, I will do something, which I enjoy the most, work with good people and that script will always be my hero. Whether it is an OTT platform or a film, for me a role is a role. In both the mediums, the work is the same, rather on OTT the work is a bit more, like there were eight episodes (in this show). The work is the same. I am not different in any which manner. So, for me it is not that difficult a choice.”

Starting July 14, The Trial will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar.
