Thamma box office collection day 8: Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna film earns Rs 101 cr, trump Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan records
Thamma Box Office Collection Worldwide Day 8: Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror-comedy performed better on Tuesday, owing to the Rs 99 ticket offer. The film has now joined Rs 100 cr club and crossed Munjya's record.
Thamma box office collection day 8: The film has crossed the 100 crore mark. Thamma box office collection day 8: After a noticeable dip on its first-ever Monday, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Diwali release Thamma has finally found some respite with improved numbers on Day 8. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the horror-comedy collected Rs 5.5 crore on its first Tuesday, marking a 27.9% increase from its Monday earnings, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
With this, Thamma has officially entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 101.1 crore after a full week at the box office. A major reason behind this mid-week recovery is the Rs 99 ticket offer rolled out by the producers on Tuesday, which drove higher footfalls across theatres nationwide. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 18.53% on Day 8, starting at 7.87% during morning shows, rising to 16.37% in the afternoon, improving further to 20.29% in the evening, and peaking at 29.59% during night shows.
Among the key regions, Delhi-NCR led with the highest number of screens (1,182), registering around 20% occupancy, while Mumbai (751 shows), recorded a slightly better 22%. However, despite this recovery, Thamma continues to trail behind its immediate competitor, Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which performed notably better on its Day 8 with a 27.80% occupancy and collections of Rs 4.35 crore, a strong figure considering its smaller screen count and limited promotional push. Furthermore, in comparison to Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is also performing stronger across both tier-1 and tier-2 cities, showing consistent audience interest despite the odds.
Within Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, Thamma also lags far behind the franchise’s biggest success, Stree 2, which crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in under four days and was close to the Rs 300 crore milestone by its eighth day. Still, Thamma fares better than some of this year’s other high-profile releases such as Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 95.55 crore in eight days) and Akshay Kumar–Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3 (Rs 77.75 crore in the same period).
Adding to its challenges, Thamma is also facing competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, which is in its fourth week yet continues to perform strongly, now approaching the Rs 600 crore mark. Furthermore, the upcoming re-release of S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali films as Baahubali: The Epic is expected to draw some attention and sharing of screens, potentially affecting Thamma’s business in the coming days.
As it stands, the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer still has a long way to go to recover its reported budget of Rs 145 crore, and its performance in the second week will determine whether it can sustain momentum or fade amid mounting competition.
