Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya released in theatres on Friday. After a decent start at the box office with Rs 6.70 crore, the film recorded a jump of almost 40 per cent on the second day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the romantic-comedy minted Rs 9.50 crore on Saturday. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 16.20 crore. The film had an overall 22.16% Hindi occupancy on Saturday.
Chennai recorded the highest occupancy with 65 percent, followed by cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune. Also starring Dharmendra, Dimple Kapadia, and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is helmed by debut directors, Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah.
The movie tells a unique love story in the world of Artificial Intelligence. Shahid plays a scientist who develops feelings for an intelligent female robot, played by Kriti. Shahid’s last theatrical release Jersey (2022), which also starred Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, tanked at the box office as it opened with Rs 2.93 crore and ended its run in the theatres with Rs 19.68 cr. Even Kriti’s last release, Ganpath, opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Tiger Shroff, couldn’t pull people to the theatres.
Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2 stars and called it a ‘mish-mash’ of genres. A part of the review read, “Some of the snappiest lines in the movie are reserved for Kapoor, and when he is not being mannered and conscious of his hero-status– just a guy standing in front of a gal– he reminds you that he can be something to look at, like he did back in ‘Jab We Met’.”
