‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ races ahead with Rs 21.85 cr in two days

'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan has amassed Rs 13.10 cr on the second day of its release.

After opening to descent figures on May 22, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan has amassed Rs 13.10 cr on the second day of its release. This brings its collections to a sum total Rs 21.85 cr for the first two days.

Film trade expert and critic Taran Adarsh tweeted the details of the collections.

The rise in the collections on day two can be attributed to the positive word of mouth. Not only are the critics mighty impressed with the treatment of the underlying concept of true love, but the audiences are flocking in numbers to watch the romantic comedy.

Kangana Ranaut, R Madhavan, Deepak Dobriyal, Jimmy Sheirgill and the whole team is being appreciated for their performances in the movie. This is director Aanand L Rai’s third hit in a row, after ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Ranjhanaa’.

If the movie’s golden run continues at the Box Office, this might as well become the first Rs 100 cr movie of the year.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan’s ‘Piku’ is steadily racing to the triple figure with a total of Rs 68.97 cr in three weeks.

‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ traces the married life of Tanu and Manu, who got married in the prequel, and how it breaks apart and how they find love again. Their love story has a third wheel in the form of Tanu’s lookalike – Kusum aka Datto.
