Many heartwarming videos of Kajol and Ajay Devgn’s interactions with their son Yug have often gone viral on social media. Fans even call him a “mama’s boy.” In a recent interaction, Kajol’s sister and actor Tanishaa Mukerji gave credit to Kajol for Yug’s upbringing.

Speaking about Yug to Pinkvilla, she said, “He is a very well brought-up boy, and I give it all to my sister. Mai toh biased hu toh mai Ajay (Ajay Devgn) ko koi credit nahi dungi (I’m biased, so I won’t give any credit to Ajay). All credit to my sister. She is an outstanding mother. She is the best mother in the world. I know because I felt it. She was my mother a lot of the time.”

When asked if Yug and his sister Nysa come to her for advice, Tanishaa responded with humour and said, “We are not cool. We stopped being cool the moment they became teenagers. Until they turn 35, we will just have to accept that we are uncool. Maybe after 35, they’ll start calling me again, giving hugs, and wanting to be around me. For now, for the next 15-20 years, forget it. I’ve forgotten; all my nieces and nephews have become teenagers. It’s very scary.”

During the conversation, Tanishaa also reflected on her parents, veteran actor Tanuja and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who had been living separately since her childhood. She said, “They started living separately when I was one year old. I have always lived with my mother, but I am now getting to experience my dad’s side of the family.”

Despite their separation, Tanishaa admitted that her father was always a part of her life. “This wasn’t a typical separation because Dad was always in our lives. Mom was very clear that they both have to bring up the kids. We met him every weekend, he would come all the time and we would take holidays together,” she said.

She went on to add, “It wasn’t all rosy, though, it is tough, but it was a conscious decision because they were friends, and they decided that the separation should not impact the kids. We have to bring them up as a unit together. If mom made a decision, dad never went against it and vice versa. She always rose him up in our eyes and never put him down, and vice versa.”

Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee tied the knot in 1973. They separated in the 1980s but never divorced each other.
