Sushmita Sen on being called ‘gold digger’ amid reports of dating Lalit Modi, her relationship with Rohman Shawl: ‘An insult is…’
Sushmita Sen has revealed that she is "very much single," a year after Lalit Modi claimed that they were in a relationship. The actor also addressed her relationship with Rohman Shawl.

After suffering a cardiac arrest and going through an angioplasty earlier this year, Sushmita Sen is already promoting her new show Taali, directed by National award-winning director Ravi Jadhav. Apart from her health and work, the actor made headlines last year when Lalit Modi, the controversial businessman and cricket administrator who founded the Indian Premier League (IPL), announced that he is dating Sushmita and the two would soon tie the knot.
Following Lalit’s claims, Suhmita was called a “gold digger” on social media. She had reacted to this in an Instagram post. Now, Sushmita has opened up about the episode, and said that her personal life is nobody’s business. Talking to Zoom Entertainment, Sushmita said, “An insult is an insult when you receive it, I don’t receive it. So it went out of the window. There are certain things that are nobody’s business.”
Sushmita has also been linked with her ex-boyfriend Rohman Shawl, as the two continue to remain friends after calling it quits last year. About her relationship status, Sushmita revealed that she is “very much single”.

Last year in July, Lalit Modi had shared pictures of himself with Sushmita from their holiday in the Maldives and Sardinia, and had announced that he is in a relationship with Sushmita. While Sushmita has always maintained a stoic silence on that front, the actor had responded to trolls with an Instagram post in which she addressed being called a “gold digger.”

In the Zoom Entertainment interview, Sushmita also opened up about why she decided to respond to the trolls back then. She said, “I respond when I want, if I want. If I don’t want, I won’t. But when I believe it is time to speak up or take a stand on something I do so… Problem is in the social media days, something happens and here comes the reaction. That’s not how I am built. I take my time absorbing and then I respond to things when I am ready.”
