Rajkummar Rao is once again winning hearts with his performance in his latest release Srikanth, a film where the praise it receives is translating into impressive box office figures. Following a promising debut, Srikanth amassed a commendable Rs 4.26 crore on its second day, taking its total box office collection to Rs 6.67 crore.

According to Sacnilk, the film boasted an overall 20.25 per cent occupancy in the Hindi market on Saturday. Morning screenings witnessed an occupancy of 11.84 per cent, escalating to a substantial 25.61 per cent during night shows. Afternoon viewings maintained a solid 20.45 per cent occupancy, while the evening shows saw an impressive rise to 23.08 per cent.

Srikanth surpassed the opening day collections of other well-received releases this year such as Laapataa Ladies and Madgaon Express, securing Rs 2.25 crore on its debut. Laapataa Ladies only managed Rs 75 lakh, whereas Madgaon Express grossed Rs 1.63 crore. Impressively, Rajkummar Rao’s film nearly matches Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan, which accumulated Rs 7.1 crore in its initial two days, with Srikanth not far behind at Rs 6.67 crore.

For Rajkummar Rao, Srikanth marks a significant turnaround from his previous theatrical releases, which struggled to make an impact at the box office. Bheed earned a net collection of Rs 2.26 crore in India, while HIT: The First Case grossed Rs 6.6 crore, according to Sacnilk.

The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta gave Srikanth 2.5 stars and wrote, “With Rajkummar Rao playing the part of Srikanth Bolla, it’s a given that you will get both skill and utmost sincerity. Touching upon the high points of a difficult life in a 2.5-hour feature leans towards broad-brushstrokes, though, and this takes away complexity, the story-telling ends up being pretty basic.”
