Sonu Nigam washes Asha Bhosle’s feet at her biography launch, netizens find it ‘quintessentially Indian’. Watch

At the book launch event of Asha Bhosle's biography Swarswamini Asha, Sonu Nigam washed the feet of the veteran singer.

Sonu Nigam, who recently met veteran singer Asha Bhosle, won netizens’ hearts by washing the singer’s feet at the launch of her biography. Jackie Shroff also attended the event. In the video, Sonu was seen kissing the singer’s feet, washing them and bowing to her.

Sony Nigam’s gesture caught the attention of netizens on X. A user wrote, “This is beautiful. So quintessentially Indian. Such are the things that make us proud to be Indians.” Another user commented, “bharatiya sanskriti ko shat shat naman.” “Waah”, “Heart warming”, “God bless”, wrote others.

In the video, Sonu can be seen wearing a yellow kurta paired with white pyjama, while Asha wore a printed white saree. During the event, Sonu Nigam also delivered a speech where he praised the veteran singer as well as her late sister and legendary singer Late Mangeshkar for their contributions to Indian music.

Jackie Shroff too paid his respects to Asha by touching her feet and presenting her with a flower pot.

Asha Bhosle, 90, in her career spanning 8 decades, has recorded various songs and albums in multiple languages. Her work includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, and Ranbindra Sangeet. Apart from Hindi, Asha has sung in 20 Indian and foreign languages.
