It was an unexpected starry night, with Bollywood, glamour, cricket and a soccer star. Actor Sonam Kapoor and her businessman husband Anand Ahuja hosted a grand dinner party for none other than soccer star David Beckham.

David Beckham is in India and was also seen watching the India vs New Zealand semifinals at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium on Wednesday. The same night, the former England football caption was spotted arriving at the dinner bash of the Kapoors.

Sonam, Anand and David posed for the waiting paparazzi at the couple’s residence. The guest list also included Sonam’s actor father Anil Kapoor, Malaika Arora and Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput.

Fashion stylist Antara Motiwala Marwah shared inside pictures from the party, where she posed with Sonam, David Beckham, Shanaya Kapoor among others. “What a night, in absolute awe of the legend and gentleman,” she wrote in her picture with Beckham.

David Beckham was among guests who witnessed the India vs New Zealand match, which also included megastar Rajinikanth, Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani among others.

After Virat Kohli made history on Wednesday by scoring most ODI hundreds –50–Beckham told Star Sports he knew the significance of the moment as he broke the record of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.

“Well, I’d like to say I had something to do with it (the record), but I didn’t. It’s a great pleasure to be here at this stadium and see a moment of history. I spoke to Sachin earlier and I know what he’s achieved at this stadium and in this sport and to see Virat do that was special. It’s my first time in India and it couldn’t have been better,” he added.
