Shweta Bachchan discloses Amitabh Bachchan’s dislike for short hair on Bachchan women: ‘He hates it’
Shweta Bachchan revealed an interesting tidbit about Amitabh Bachchan's preferences, mentioning his dislike for short hair on females in the Bachchan family.

In a recent episode of her podcast What The Hell Navya Season 2, Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, delved into age-old beauty secrets with her grandmother Jaya and mother Shweta Bachchan. During their conversation, Shweta revealed an interesting tidbit about Amitabh’s preferences, mentioning his dislike for short hair on females in the Bachchan family. Jaya also shared a quirky anecdote about Amitabh’s insistence on using mustard oil as a moisturiser for their children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan, during their younger years.
Reflecting on her own experiences, Shweta disclosed how she used to frequently cut her hair short in her youth, much to her father’s disapproval. She recounted, “Nana used to not like it. No.” Navya chimed in, affirming Shweta’s statement, “He hates it. Even when I ever cut my hair, he’s always like, ‘Why did you do it?’ He hates it. He likes long hair. He doesn’t like it when any of us cut our hair.”
During the podcast, Navya Naveli inquired about the moisturiser Amitabh Bachchan prefers to use, to which Jaya Bachchan responded, “Mustard oil.” She elaborated, “It’s a moisturizer for your body. Oh. That’s a very typical UP habit.” Noting Amitabh’s roots in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, she added, “And Nana used to be obsessed. Put mustard oil on the children. But it’s very sharp. It’s very sharp.”
With Amitabh hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Jaya from a Bengali family, Shweta humorously juxtaposed their traditions regarding mustard oil. She remarked, “They (Bengalis) cook so much with mustard oil. They don’t mind cooking with it. They don’t want to put it on their body. And then the UPites want to put it on their body but they’re not cooking with it. Yeah. So, if you have a Bengali and a UPite then you’re putting it also on your body.”
