Shoojit has had an extensive working relationship with Abhishek’s father, the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, and in a recent interaction, the filmmaker compared the Dhoom actor to Big B, while also sharing that his acting mannerisms closely resemble those of his mother, the veteran actress Jaya Bachchan.
Speaking to India Today, Shoojit shared, “Everyone talks about how much he is like his father, but I saw a lot of Jaya di, especially in his eyes, his mannerisms, and just the way he talks. We have seen Jaya di in films like Mahanagar or Abhimaan… how pure she was. I saw that same purity in Abhishek. His eyes spoke to me.”
Shoojit Sircar also spoke about the differences in approach between Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. He explained that while Big B prefers to rehearse extensively, often for hours, Abhishek’s method is more about immersing himself in the character’s mindset and vibe once on set. “With Bachchan sir, he likes to rehearse a lot, for hours. But Abhishek likes to hang around on set, grasp everything, and go over the script repeatedly. For this film (I Want To Talk), however, he was so simple and disciplined. He surrendered himself completely to becoming Arjun. You won’t see anything else in the film. Even on set, he was the character,” he shared.
I Want To Talk will release after Abhishek Bachchan’s string of back-to-back flops, including Ghoomer, Dasvi, Bob Biswas, The Big Bull, and others. The film also stars Banita Sandhu and Johny Lever in pivotal roles and is set to hit theatres on November 5.
