Actor Sharad Kelkar has dubbed for various Indian and international actors, but his dubbing for Telugu star Prabhas in the Hindi version of Baahubali films has a separate fan-base all together. The actor recently revealed that his first meeting with Baahubali director SS Rajamouli left a strong impression on him.
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sharad said that Rajamouli had gauged in the first instance itself that Sharad would be an apt choice to dub for Prabhas.
Sharad Kelkar said, “I think Rajamouli sir is one of the most intelligent men in our industry. When I auditioned for the role, I wanted to meet him and he also wanted to meet me. I still remember that I went to Raj Kamal studio to meet him and he looked at me.”
The actor further recalled, “He analyzed that my personality matches with Prabhas, the physicality and all and he was briefed that I am an actor. He was wise enough to understand. One, the physicality matched and secondly the sound has a size which is also very important.”
Sharad Kelkar feels that SS Rajamouli got him onboard for his acting and not just his voice. “So as an actor, he knew that I could emote what Prabhas has done may be not as much but close to that. So I think he chose me as an actor. He didn’t just choose a voice or dubbing artist.”
The actor also shared that while Rajamouli used to attend dubbing sessions of Baahubali: The Beginning almost every day, during the dubbing of the second film, he showed faith in him and let him do it on his own.
“He only came for the trailer dub and he showed full trust in me ki isne first part ache se kiya hai, second part bhi ache se karega,” Sharad said.
