Many colleagues and fans complimented Shahid Kapoor’s effort and dedication towards Deva. Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Shahid spoke about his film Deva and playing characters with grey shades. He said, “It is a very intense and entertaining film. We are really getting deep into the psyche of a character like that. As an actor, if you don’t do dark characters like that, you are more of a star than an actor. As an actor, you have to delve deeper into human psyche and not play characters who are nice and running around a tree. Playing the cutest nice guy gets boring after a point of time. You can only keep people and yourself interested if you explore, make mistakes, and put the art into cinema.”

Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, also features Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubbra Sait in pivotal roles. As of 7 pm on Thursday, the film had earned Rs 86.6 lakhs in India, with 34,067 tickets sold across 7,117 shows, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
