Every time, there is a new interview of a celebrity, we often find something new about them. But, is every interview that we see unfiltered and uncensored? Not really. In a recent interview, former journalist Rajeev Masand recalled an incident when Shahid Kapoor asked to watch his interview after recording it but requested to do it all over again as he did not like how he sounded. Rajeev said that this was shortly before the release of Ishq Vishk and was one of the first interviews of the actor.
Rajeev Masand, in a chat with YouTube channel Shaardulogy, shared, “I remember a long time ago we interviewed Shahid Kapoor for the first time. It was a long interview of about an hour or maybe 35 minutes. And even for Shahid, it was one of his first interviews. It was around the time of his first film Ishq Vishq. He asked me if he could watch the interview and he watched it. After watching it, he said ‘I don’t like the way I sound, can we do it again?’ I was like, ‘Hain?’ and we did it all over again.”
Rajeev defended Shahid and said that since the actor was in the “pursuit of perfection and excellence,” it made sense for him to do it again. He also mentioned that since Shahid was in the early days of his career, he was cautious about how he came across to his audience. “In Shahid’s case, I understand… it was his first interview. If he thought his voice was not good, it’s the first time people are going to see you, I understand it,” he said.
Shahid Kapoor was only 22 when he made his debut in the movies.
