Actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who played the role of Anna in Kundan Shah’s 1994 romantic comedy Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa also starring Shah Rukh Khan, recently recalled an anecdote from the shoot of the film where she had to slap Shah Rukh multiple times. Suchitra said that she burst into tears on the sets of the film as she didn’t want to slap him anymore. But Shah Rukh stood there like a gentleman without saying a word.

Krishnamoorthi’s Anna slaps Shah Rukh’s Sunil in the movie just after the song “Ae Kaash Ke Hum”. The actor shared that she didn’t get the slap right in the first take and had to give multiple takes, hence she had to slap SRK several times and none of those slaps were fake.

“It took a lot of takes and I started crying because I had to slap Shah Rukh and it was going take after take and finally I started crying because I couldn’t do it any more. Kundan was particular that it should be real, we didn’t use to do play-acting. And Shah Rukh, being the gentleman that he is, didn’t say anything. But I could see he was going backwards,” Krishnamoorthi told Bollywood Hungama.

For her, it was “very painful” to do the scene. “I mean normal people don’t go and slap other people. Shah Rukh is a pro but I couldn’t do it, I just burst out crying,” she added.

The coming-of-age romantic comedy Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa also starred Deepak Tijori and Naseeruddin Shah. The film completed 29 years of release recently and on the occasion, Shah Rukh revealed he learnt an important life lesson from the film.

“At that stage…in that age…..raw….uncontrolled…craft still undefined….surrounded by the best cast & crew in India and a director who I miss every day! Taught me that sometimes u lose the moment….but win everything else…I am sure somewhere, some world Sunil did too!” he tweeted.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was made on a small budget. The cast and crew used to stay in Goa Tourism guest house where the rooms were not great. Suchitra Krishnamoorti also revealed that there was very less budget even for cold drinks and sandwiches.
