Shah Rukh Khan and the US don't seem to gel together. Every time Bollywood's biggest star (arguably) sits on a flight and heads to the world's oldest democracy, US officials at the said airport rub their hands in glee. They will detain SRK, he will tweet and all 1.2 billion Indians will outrage. Hey, what fun! SRK was stopped for the third time at a US airport on Thursday. Yes, it has happened not once, not twice, but thrice. SRK was grounded and we are guessing, asked to prove who he was. Like the last time maybe he was told to call up three people in the US to vouch for him. He could have said Barack Obama (remember the DDLJ reference?) but would that have cut it? When all our airport officials do is ask inappropriate questions to commoners, those in the US target celebs. Okay, scratch that, make it Indian celebs and politicians. Read: Shah Rukh Khan detained at US airport again, tweets ‘every damn time’ Shah Rukh has turned a seasoned detainee. By his own admission, when he heads to the US, he packs light. He also ensures he has Pokemon Go on his phone. So, he is stopped at the airport, he tweets about it and plays Pokemon Go. So, while he is catching Pikachu, a bleary-eyed India is busy outraging. He was detained at a New York airport in 2012 when going to Yale for a speech. He had joked later at Yale: "Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself I take a trip to America." After arriving two hours late at Yale, he said in his address: "We were detained at the airport as always. For one and a half hours. It was nice. It always happens when I come to America." As New Delhi reacted strongly and asked the Indian Ambassador to take up the incident, the US Customs and Border Protection wrote to India's New York Mission expressing "profound apologies". Let us give them credit, these guys are consistent. They have apologised again this time. Earlier this year, the actor had said in an interview that he hoped this would stop, since his namesake had been removed from the no-fly list. As the latest incident shows, no such luck Shah Rukh, no such luck. Our money is on airport officials in the US doing it for kicks. The guy (let's assume he is white, middle aged and has three kids at home) would be dining out on this story for the rest of his life. "So, what happened at work today, Gary?" "Oh, the usual, detained a superstar and made him play Pokemon Go for three hours. You can call him Tom Cruise of India," will be Gary's reply. We are just hoping the next question is not "where is India". I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks. — Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) 12 August 2016 And you know what is better than stopping Shah Rukh Khan once at an airport? Stopping him thrice. SRK tweeted this time, "I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks." The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons. — Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) 12 August 2016 Stop travelling to the US and don't shoot your films there is our advice Shah Rukh. Then tell the tourism authorities in the US what you single-handedly did for the tourism of Switzerland. We will see who is laughing then. And if you still insist on travelling to the US, imagine you can actually be a Pokemon master!
