DJ Aqeel, known for performing at high-profile celebrity parties, recently shared his experience of playing at Shah Rukh Khan’s house, Mannat, in Mumbai during the early 2000s. He revealed that SRK’s parties were star-studded affairs, boasting a 100% attendance rate with Bollywood’s biggest names—Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Salman Khan—all under one roof. He also praised Shah Rukh for his exceptional hospitality.

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Aqeel admitted that he had to be mindful of the music selection, ensuring he played songs of all the major stars present. He recalled how, at the beginning of the night, the actors would stick to their respective groups, but as the party progressed, they would come to the dance floor.

He explained, “I have played at Shah Rukh Khan’s house hundred of times. In those parties, Shah Rukh, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan would be in corners in their own groups. If I play one actor’s song, the other would feel bad. So, I would make sure I would play all their songs so that everybody is happy. Actors would notice, ‘Aacha tune uska gaana bajaya, aacha mera bhi bajaya (You played his song, okay you played mine too)’. I used to sense this just by looking at them. Then eventually all used to come to the floor and let go and dance. In the beginning of the party, they would be standing in corners with their own groups.”

Aqeel also mentioned that, back then, celebrities could party freely since there were no cameras or social media to document every move. He emphasized that SRK’s parties were legendary, not just because of the star power but also due to the warmth and hospitality he extended to his guests.

Speaking about Shah Rukh’s hosting style, he said, “Food was great, alcohol was great, people were great, his hospitality was great. Everything was amazing, attendance was 100 out of 100. Everybody was there. People used to look forward to his parties. They would travel from abroad, out-of-town to be there. He used to have parties every 2-3 months. I would get 30K-40K to play per night at Shah Rukh’s parties.”

On the personal front, DJ Aqeel was married to Farah Khan, the elder sister of Sussanne Khan and daughter of actor Sanjay Khan. The couple, who have two children—Fizaa Ali and Azaan Ali—parted ways in 2023.
