Shah Rukh Khan jokes about playing ‘5 lakh ki chaal’ in poker with Aditya Chopra after Pathaan’s success: ‘Nobody had seen business like this’

When Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan released in 2023, Hindi cinema was going through one of its worst phases but everything changed after the film’s release as it did unprecedented business at the box office. At a recent event, when asked about what was going through his head before the release of the YRF film, Shah Rukh said that he was “scared” but once Pathaan took over the box office, it was nothing but celebration for him, producer Aditya Chopra and director Siddharth Anand.

Shah Rukh then jokingly shared a story that while playing poker with Aditya and Siddharth, he was ready to bet Rs 5 lakh after Pathaan’s success. He immediately said that this was a joke and he didn’t actually bet money while playing the game. “After about 2-3 days, it became just unbelievable. We were like ‘oh, these are the numbers, no, this can’t be’. Poker mein 5 lakh ki chaal. I swear we don’t play with money this is a joke everyone,” he said with a laugh at News 18’s event.

He said that they don’t gamble with money, but also jokingly added that he had “lost a lot of love in the last two years.” “We don’t gamble, just play, without money. Don’t troll me for this. It’s just love that we share. I have lost a lot of love in the last two years,” he shared.

Shah Rukh then said that as Pathaan started its journey, it was very “unexpected” as no one had seen this kind of business at the box office. “This is an unexpected kind of a business of a film. Nobody had seen business like this. Even the Yash Raj Films people, who have made the biggest of hits, nobody had seen (this),” he shared.

Not just Pathaan, Shah Rukh had two more hits with Jawan and Dunki in 2023. Speaking about his comeback, the actor said, “It is not a comeback. It is actually a reiteration of the fact that I belong and I should continue to act,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan is yet to announce his next film.
