Shah Rukh Khan apologised for coming late on Om Shanti Om sets but warned Farah Khan, Shreyas Talpade: ‘I will come at this time only so…’

Shah Rukh Khan was late on the first day of the shoot of Om Shanti Om that left director Farah Khan furious but Shah Rukh charmed everyone who had been waiting for him.

Shah Rukh Khan and Shreyas Talpade played best friends in Om Shanti Om.

Shah Rukh Khan’s 2007 film Om Shanti Om had the actor starring alongside Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal and Shreyas Talpade and in a recent interview Shreyas recalled his first day of shooting with SRK. Shah Rukh and Shreyas played best friends in the Farah Khan film and Shreyas recalled that the first day of the shoot required everyone to report at 8 am. Deepika, who was working on her first film, and Shreyas were both present at 8 am but Shah Rukh was nowhere to be found.

Shreyas recalled, in a chat with Mashable India, “I reached at 8. By 9, I was ready, Deepika was ready. 10 am, Shah (Rukh Khan) came. It was the first day and he was an hour late for a 9 am shift. Farah was really pissed. Farah said ‘Shah Rukh, what is this? First day of shooting and you are an hour late. People have been waiting here since 8’. He said just give me a minute.”

Shreyas shared that Shah Rukh then walked into his make-up room with Farah Khan and apologised for his tardiness. “Shah Rukh walks into my make-up room with Farah and says ‘Sorry, Shreyas, I’m very sorry. Today is the first day. I know you guys all came early. I came at 10. I am really very sorry lekin kal se main 10 baje aaunga toh tu accordingly aa ja (I am very sorry but from tomorrow, I will come at 10, so you come accordingly).”

When Farah looked at him with a shocked expression, Shah Rukh told her, “Yaar main nahi aa sakta 9 baje. Main 10 baje aa jaunga. I will be ready in 5 minutes (I can’t be there at 9. I will come by 10. I will be ready in 5 minutes).”

Shreyas laughed as he recalled this anecdote and shared that Shah Rukh was a delight to work with. “His entire persona is very infectious,” he said as he described Shah Rukh as a “secure actor” and a “charming human being.”
