Sam Bahadur Collection, Day 3: Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur released in theatres along with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal on December 1. Despite facing stiff competition from the latter, Sam Bahadur has managed to hold its own and is going strong at the box office. The film made the most of its first weekend and saw a 50 percent jump on Saturday.

Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur box office collection day 3 was Rs 10.30 crore. This brings Sam Bahadur’s total domestic collection to Rs 25.55 crore. The film collected Rs 6.25 crore on the first day of its release. In contrast, Animal had a monumental opening, raking in Rs 63.8 crore on its first day. Despite the daunting competition, Sam Bahadur demonstrated an impressive performance, witnessing a 50 percent surge in earnings on Saturday, securing Rs 9 crore. Sam Bahadur registered a 56.33 percent Hindi cccupancy on Sunday, with the highest footfall recorded during evening and afternoon shows, at 74.12 percent and 61.38 percent, respectively.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under RSVP Movies, Sam Bahadur features Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. The film portrays the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, highlighting his instrumental role in India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, leading to the creation of Bangladesh.

Indian Express’s Shubra Gupta gave the film 2.5 stars and wrote, “Net net, ‘Sam Bahadur’ pans out like a series of snapshots where information is handed out to us, much more tell than show. The writing is flat even when it tries to amp up the excitement in scenes which are inherently exciting. Take, for example, a running thread which features an irascible factotum who has clearly endeared himself to the big man. The first time we see the former twiddle the knob on his beat-up radio, muttering under his breath, we are amused. A repetition in the same vein is just not as funny.”
