Salman Khan told Prabhudheva ‘break my bones, make me dance’, director recalls working with the star in Wanted: ‘He has that fire’
Prabhudheva's Wanted changed the trajectory of Salman Khan's career. The actor is now looking forward to the release of Tiger 3.

Veteran choreographer Prabhudheva turned a Hindi film director when he made Wanted with Salman Khan in 2009. The film started a new chapter for Salman Khan as he leaned into the image of a massy hero, but since this film was being directed by a veteran choreographer, Salman was ready to give it all even in the dance numbers. In a recent interview, Prabhudheva recalled that Salman was keen on dancing well in he film and even told him at one point, “break my bones.”
In a chat with O2 India, Prabhudheva recalled that at the time of Wanted, producer Boney Kapoor and actor Salman Khan had nothing to prove but he had put a lot of pressure on himself as he was making his directorial debut in Bollywood. “I am the new one who has to prove, as a director,” he said and added, “Of course, it was challenge for me.”
Prabhudheva said that Salman had eased all his worries about the fate of the film and wanted him to focus on making his songs “superbly.” The director said, “He [Salman] used to say, don’t worry about the picture working. Make my song superbly.” He also recalled the actor saying, “He used to say, ‘break my bones, make me dance well’.” Praising Salman’s style of working, he said, “He wants to do it. He has that fire.” Wanted featured dance songs like ‘Jalwa’, ‘Love Me Love Me’.
Wanted changed the trajectory of Salman’s career as before this film, the actor had been struggling to deliver box office. But after Wanted’s success, Salman delivered back-to-back hits with Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, among many others.
Salman is now looking forward to the release of Tiger 3, the third part of the Tiger franchise which is being directed by Maneesh Sharma. Salman hasn’t had a hit in the theatres for a few years now. The actor’s last release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, did not deliver as per expectations. Antim, Radhe, Dabangg 3 and Bharat also did not reap the expected results. Salman’s last big hit at the theatres was 2017’s Tiger Zinda Hai.
