September 28, 2002: Salman’s white-colour Toyata Land Cruiser crashes into American Express Bakery at Hill Road at Bandra killing one person and injuring four others.

Sept 28: Salman Khan’s vehicle mows down one person, injures four others. Khan arrested, later released on bail.
Oct: Police invoke Section 304-II of IPC i.e culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Oct 7: Khan surrenders, arrested.
Oct 24: Khan released on bail.
2003
March: Khan challenges application of Section 304-II in sessions court.
May: Sessions court rejects plea.
June: Khan moves Bombay HC, which says Section 304-II not applicable.
Oct : Maharashtra government challenges Bombay HC order in Supreme Court.
Dec: SC says magistrate court may decide whether Section 304-II can be applied.
2012
Dec: Magistrate court adds Section 304-II, sends case to sessions court.
2013
July 24: Sessions court frames charges against Khan under culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Nov 19: Khan pleads for fresh trial.
Dec 5: Fresh trial ordered.
2015
May 6: Trial court finds Salman Khan guilty and sentences him to five years’ imprisonment.
July: HC begins hearing case
December 10: Bombay High Court acquits Salman Khan
December 23: Maharashtra government decides to appeal against actor’s acquittal
