Sales of sex toys increased after Karan Johar’s segment in Lust Stories, reveals Dharma’s Somen Mishra: ‘It’s going in my CV’

Years after the scene went viral, Somen Mishra has opened up about the impact of the short film, which led to a firm selling adult toys officially revealing how they benefited from Lust Stories. He said in an interview on the AnuradhaSays YouTube channel, “That short film went viral for obvious reasons, but the most interesting thing that happened was, there is a site which sells adult toys and in their annual survey, they put out the duration which their sales increased– first was during COVID, second was Lust Stories. The sales increased by 50-55 percent because people were googling ‘Kiara Advani vibrator’, ‘Kiara Advani sex toys’.”

“I thought, ok, we are bringing joy to people’s lives, especially women. They told us, ‘You don’t know what Lust Stories has done for our business.’ I thought, This is going in my CV!’ Because I never imagined that kind of an impact the film would have. Fashion gets affected (by films), I never imagined vibrators would too,” he added.

During an appearance on Koffee with Karan, actor Kriti Sanon had revealed that she said no to several roles, including Kiara’s part in Lust Stories, because her mother would not allow it. “My mom said no to your (Karan Johar) role because she was not comfortable with the nature of the script, given the focus of it was only on sensual scenes. That is why she said better not to do it,” Kriti said.

Lust Stories was a turning point for Kiara Advani, who then found further popularity and acclaim after featuring in projects such as Kabir Singh, Good Newwz, Guilty and Shershaah. On the work front, Kiara will be next seen in the Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, followed by Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR starrer War 2.
