Ravi Kishan says he faced casting couch in early days of showbiz struggle: ‘Can’t name her because she’s a big shot now’
Ravi Kishan first appeared in the 1992 Hindi release Pitambar, and has since become a well-known name in Bollywood. The actor said he was faced with casting couch early in his career.

Actor and MP Ravi Kishan, who has dabbled in Bhojpuri, Hindi and Telugu cinema, recently opened up about his acting journey, early days of struggle and a casting couch encounter. Ravi, who has also appeared in reality TV shows such as Bigg Boss and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, said that he was propositioned in lieu of a chance to act in movies.
Ravi said these are regular occurrences in showbiz, and he managed to ‘escape’ from the awkward situation. He added that he knew he was talented and didn’t want to resort to the ‘shortcut’.
The actor, while speaking at Rajat Sharma’s Aap ki Adalat, said, “Yeah, it happened and this is something that happens in the industry. But I somehow managed to escape. My father had taught me that I should approach my work with honesty, I never wanted to take a shortcut. I knew I was talented.”
When he was probed further about the details of what had transpired, the actor added, “I can’t name her, because she has become a big shot now. She had said, ‘Coffee peene raat me aayie (Come over for a cup of coffee tonight)’. I thought that is something people prefer to have during the day, so I got the hint and refused.”
Ravi Kishan first appeared in the 1992 Hindi release Pitambar, and has since become a well-known name in Bollywood. He is regarded as a superstar of Bhojpuri cinema.
