Raveena Tandon reveals conditions she had before agreeing to do ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’: ‘Saree won’t come off, no kissing…’
Raveena Tandon spoke about her apprehension with "Tip Tip Barsa Pani", and said that she made sure that a fine line wasn't crossed between sexuality and sensuality.

Actor Raveena Tandon corroborated recent comments made by producer Shabbir Boxwala about her initial reluctance to do the iconic “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” song in the film Mohra. Raveena said that she was concerned about how sensual the song will be, but was ultimately satisfied with the balance that the filmmakers managed to strike.
In an interview with The New Indian, Raveena appeared to be a bit taken aback when she was asked about exposing her ‘kinky side’ with the so-called saree songs “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” and “Zubaan Pe Jo Nahin Aaye”. “Are you seriously asking me this question?” she said, before explaining why she was hesitant about doing the song. She said, “They were sensuous songs, yes, there was nothing overtly sexual about it. I always believed there is a thin line between in-your-face sexuality and sensuality.”
Raveena said that according to her, one can ‘look sexy’ even if they’re entirely covered up; it all depends on the expression on their face, and their eyes. Speaking about “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” in particular, she said, “I was very clear that my saree will not come off, this will not happen, that will not happen, there’ll be no kissing, there’ll be no nothing. So, there were a lot of cross marks rather than tick marks on that song, and eventually we came up with something that was Tip Tip, which was a correct balance of sensuality, more than anything else.”
Previously, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mohra writer Shabbir Boxwala had said, “She knew that it was a good project but she was apprehensive, as there was a peck in the ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ song. She said that her father won’t appreciate it. To which (director) Rajiv Rai said, ‘Don’t show the film to your dad’! Finally, she agreed.”
Mohra also starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Naseeruddin Shah. In addition to being a major box office hit, the movie also produced some of the biggest chartbusters of that year, including “Tip Tip” and “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast.”
