Randeep Hooda and Darshan Kumaar have started shooting for 'Sarabjit' biopic directed by Omung Kumar today (December 14).

Actors Randeep Hooda and Darshan Kumaar have started shooting for ‘Sarabjit’ biopic directed by Omung Kumar today (December 14).

Omung Kumar, who has earlier directed biopic on Mary Kom, took to Twitter to share the news that film’s shoot starts today.

He had finished recee for ‘Sarbjit’ long back and had plans to start the shoot by November 25.

The film is based on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and was sentenced to death. He was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later.

The film features actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who will be seen playing the role of Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur. The title role will be played by Randeep Hooda.

Aishwarya is currently shooting for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and will join the team soon.

Richa Chadha will play Sarabjit’s wife in the movie. Darshan Kumaar is also a part of his ‘Mary Kom’s director Omung Kumar. Darshan, who was last seen in Anushka Sharma-starrer “NH 10”, will portray the role of Khalid Pervaiz, a Pakistani lawyer who fought for Sarbjit’ release.

‘Sarbjit’ is expected to release in May 2016.
