Actor Ranbir Kapoor jetted off to London last evening to surprise his mother Neetu Kapoor on her birthday, which is tomorrow. But at the Mumbai airport on Wednesday, the actor had the foresight to warn the gathered paparazzi to not post his pictures online, because that would spoil the surprise.

A video shared by a paparazzi account (hopefully after Ranbir was able to pull of the surprise) shows the actor getting out of his car and walking towards the terminal building. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark trousers, and had his passports in his hand. As he approached the terminal, he beckoned the photographers close, and said, “Do minute camera rakh na, ruk na. Idhar aa. Kal na mere mom ka birthday hai, aur main jaa raha hu unhe surprise dene. Tu aaj photo daal dega unko pata lag jayega (Put your camera down for two minutes, come here. It’s my mother’s birthday tomorrow, and I’m going to surprise her. But if you put these photos up right now, she’ll get to know).”

Ranbir then requested the paparazzi to share the pictures after some time. The photographers instantly agreed, and asked Ranbir if he would take pictures with them. “Now he looks like a million bucks again….Ranbir back to being Ranbir…” one of his fans wrote in the comments section, probably referring to the big beard that he had grown for his role in the upcoming film Animal.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal was delayed from its August release, and pushed to December in order to complete post-production. The action film marks Ranbir’s second release of the year, following the romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which was released earlier this year. Ranbir had a four-year break from starring roles, before he appeared in the critical and commercial dud Shamshera last year. He followed it up with Brahmastra.
