Ram Gopal Varma backs SC’s stray dogs order, asks those against the decision to love the coronavirus too: ‘Why is your love so selective?’
Ram Gopal Varma shared a series of tweets supporting SC's order against moving stray dogs to shelters, he also questioned animal lovers about the deadly attacks by dogs on children.

The Supreme Court recently passed a verdict to move all stray dogs from Delhi NCR into shelters within eight weeks. This decision met with protest from various fronts, and many people, including various celebrities, raised objections to this decision. However, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has supported this decision and cited various reasons why it is not wrong. He posted a series of tweets on X and even asked the animal lovers not to ‘selectively’ discriminate.
In one of his Tweets, RGV wrote, “From a human being’s perspective, humans come first, and like all living beings, they have a right to defend themselves from any other species that poses a danger to them, be it mosquitoes or dogs ..And what I don’t understand about the so-called animal lovers is, why is their love so selectively discriminate? Instead of restricting to dogs, why don’t they equally love all God created creatures like rats, caterpillars, cockroaches, and even CORONAVIRUS?”

In another tweet, RGV had shared, “And if the dog lovers are blaming the government administrators, they should go and bite the officers and politicians on their legs and also various other parts of their bodies for them to speed up on solutions… But meanwhile, they should think of the poor kids who are being brutally killed by street stray dogs.”

“Bottom line is anybody can love any god created creature, whether it’s a human, dog, cat, mosquito, rat, coronavirus virus, etc, as long as they are in their home, but here we are talking about stray dogs killing children on the streets,” RGV wrote in another post. He also added in another tweet, “All you Dog lovers are shouting hoarse about injustice to dogs regarding the Supreme Court’s order. But where were they when a four-year-old child was brutally killed in broad daylight on the streets? Likewise, thousands get attacked every year. Where was your compassion then? Or is compassion reserved only for those with wagging tails, while dead children don’t count?”

“And yes, there is nothing wrong with loving dogs. I love them too. But love your dogs in your own homes, in your luxury bungalows, in your manicured lawns. The truth is this: the dog menace does not exist in your lavish villas. It prowls in the streets and slums. It stalks the alleys where the poor live, where children play barefoot, where no gates or fences protect them. While the privileged stroke their glossy pets, the powerless are left to tend to the wounded and bury their loved ones,” Ram Gopal Varma mentioned in another tweet.
On 11th August, the Supreme Court announced that all localities should be made free of stray dogs and no captured animal will be released back on the streets. It also stated that if any individual or organization attempts to obstruct authorities, they will face contempt proceedings. Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, John Abraham, Raveena Tandon, and others also commented against the verdict.
