Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has revealed that Milkha Singh accepted only one rupee from him as he permitted him to make a film on his life. The biopic titled, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, was released in 2013 and features actor Farhan Akhtar in the titular role.

During an interview with Times Of India, Mehra revealed that after sharing the storyline with Singh, the sports legend mentioned that he didn’t watch many movies. However, Singh’s son, Jeev, expressed that if a biopic were to be made about his father, it should be created by Mehra.
