Priynaka also gave a speech about creating a safe space for the future generation of film talent coming to Hollywood and how the community will offer them support by standing behind them and cheer for their future endeavours. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Priyanka said, “Last year’s event came from like-minded people coming together and saying, ‘You know, we should have something where the South Asian community can feel like it’s theirs. The event had such a great response from the community, executives and studios. We had Paramount wanting to host [this year’s event] for us and when you see something like that happen, it’s getting bigger and better every year.”

“These are people whose shoulders we stand on to be able to create this. These are all the guys that are hustling and demanding representation when no one was giving into them. And today we look around at this room and say ‘This is their moment,'” Priyanka added.

India has scored three nominations at the 95th Academy Awards. SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which has a massive fan following in US, has been nominated in the Best Original Song category for “Naatu Naatu”. Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes scored a nomination in the Best Documentary Feature Film category. Kartiki Gonsalves’ 41-minute film The Elephant Whisperers also scored a nomination in the Best Documentary Short category. The awards ceremony will be held on March 13, and Deepika Padukone was recently announced as one of the presenters.
